Jack Bean Development in Multimetal Contaminated Soil Amended with Coffee Waste-Derived Biochars

چکیده
Coffee waste-derived biochar was found to immobilize heavy metals in contaminated soil, although there are few studies involving these materials. Given the large amount of waste generated coffee industry, this presents a relevant opportunity contribute circular economy and environmental sustainability. Therefore, objective study evaluate effects application biochars derived from grounds parchment remediation Cd, Zn Pb soil at development jack beans (Canavalia ensiformis) area’s revegetation. The were pyrolyzed 700 °C, treatments were: (CT); + calcium carbonate (CaCO3); 5% (weight (w)/weitght (w)) ground (w/w) biochar. These incubated for 90 days, followed by cultivation 60 days. Soil samples, solution plants analyzed nutrients metals. addition significantly reduced contents compared Control (32.13 42.95%, respectively, Zn; 26.28 33.06%, Cd 28.63 29.67%, Pb), all which had superior performance than CaCO3 treatment. Thus, following observed reduction soluble fraction metals, its uptake also reduced, especially limiting accumulation plant dry matter. In addition, promoted greater shoots, i.e., K P (1450 21.5 mg pot−1, matter basis) control (54.4 9.3 respectively). use association with may represent viable tool metal contamination concomitantly revegetation area.

Physical and chemical characterization of waste wood derived biochars.
Biochar, a solid byproduct generated during waste biomass pyrolysis or gasification in the absence (or near-absence) of oxygen, has recently garnered interest for both agricultural and environmental management purposes owing to its unique physicochemical properties. Favorable properties of biochar include its high surface area and porosity, and ability to adsorb a variety of compounds, includin...
متن کاملImpact of earthworms on trace element solubility in contaminated mine soils amended with green waste compost.
The common practice of remediating metal contaminated mine soils with compost can reduce metal mobility and promote revegetation, but the effect of introduced or colonising earthworms on metal solubility is largely unknown. We amended soils from an As/Cu (1150 mg As kg(-1) and 362 mg Cu kg(-1)) and Pb/Zn mine (4550 mg Pb kg(-1) and 908 mg Zn kg(-1)) with 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% compost and then in...
متن کاملFormation of chloropyromorphite in a lead-contaminated soil amended with hydroxyapatite.
Conversion of soil Pb to pyromorphite [Pb5(PO4)3Cl] was evaluated by reacting a Pb contaminated soil collected adjacent to a historical smelter with hydroxyapatite [Ca5(PO4)3OH]. In a dialysis experiment where the soil and hydroxyapatite solids were placed in separate dialysis bags suspended in 0.01 M NaNO3 solution a crystalline precipitate, identified as chloropyromorphite, formed on the dial...

An 89-year-old woman presented to our emergency department (ED) with a 4-day history of abdominal pain and vomiting. The physical exam revealed hypotension and a distended abdomen with generalized tenderness. Laboratory studies revealed hyperkalemia and elevated creatinine, lactate, and troponin. Given her hemodynamic instability, an emergent noncontrast abdominal computed tomography (CT) was o...
